Point Aquarius

The Point Aquarius Marina is nestled in a protected cove that was once an old creek bed that ran into the San Jacinto River. The natural protection of the area makes it a perfect place for wet boat storage for residents. The entrance to the Marina from Lake Conroe has been narrowed by two break waters that add additional protection from the wind and waves caused by boat action on the lake.

The marina walkways are supported by heavy duty float pontoons. The walkways are attached to large vertical pilings that allow the walkways to rise and fall with the changing water levels in the lake. This makes it possible for residents to store their boats and not have to worry about adjusting the mooring lines with changing water levels in the lake.

There are both covered and uncovered boat slips making it possible for residents to have all kinds of wet boat storage. You will find power boats, bass boats, pontoon boat, sailboats and just about any type of watercraft imaginable docked at the marina. Many residents leave their boats in the marina year around, while others will launch their boats in the Spring and then take them out in the Fall for cleaning, maintenance and repairs before keeping their boats in dry storage over the winter months.

Above the Marina are a series of ponds that have been constructed to prevent erosion in the old creek bed and to provide additional common areas for residents to enjoy. The run off from the ponds flows into the Lake at the head of the Marina. This natural run off of rain water also provides the Marina with a natural cleaning system. After heavy rains, large volumes of water flow through the Marina and into the lake. This keeps the Marina floor swept clean and prevents silt from filling in the Marina. It also keeps silt from building up at the entrance to the Marina as a result of the prevailing Southeast winds and boat action that pushes silt toward the Marina from the lake. This is a tremendous advantage in keeping the Marina basin from filling up with silt

The Marina and adjacent common areas provide a wonderful place for residents to gather and visit, tell fish stores and just enjoy the beauty of the area. Many residents with boat slips can be found fishing on the docks for crappie, bass and catfish year around. You will also often find someone fishing the bulkhead and boat launch areas in the evenings. When the water is flowing out of the holding ponds into the Lake after a rain, large quantities of shad and other bait fish come into the Marina area. These bait fish attract larger fish and provide residents with wonderful fishing opportunities. The holding ponds also provide residents with small children a place to fish for small perch and catfish. There is even an occasional bass caught in the ponds.
